Hello, I’m hope! 👋🏾

The foundation of my work is as a student of life and of Yoga.

I use my lived experience and study as guidance for my teaching. I have been learning and practicing the philosophy of Yoga for 15 years. Currently, I’m apprenticing with mentor and teacher Rebecca Weisman at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Vermont.

I’ve had the pleasure and privileged of studying with Deidra Demons, Rima Rabbath & Monica Jaggi. Edwin Bryant, Guy Donahaye, Mary Reilly & Greg Anton.

I’ve learned intersectional leadership from Mallika Dutt, mindfulness from Susan Salzburg, presence in my being from Leslie Salmon Jones, power in sensitivity with Sarah Urech and embodied public speaking from Carla Goldstein. I’m continuously learning and inspired by the activism and racial healing work of Vivan Wiliams - Kurutz.

My mentors from afar in the forms of authors are Alice Walker, James McBride, Toni Morrison, Angela Davis, BKS Iyengar, Maya Angelou, Elaine Aron, Cyndie Dale and Bayo Akomolafe (to name a few).

By far my greatest teacher is my daughter Olive. She embodies the fierceness, joy and love that is our birthright. Carrying, birthing and mothering Olive has been the most powerful experience of my life. Through this lens of mother, I am reminded to continue uncovering my innate gifts and purpose, something we were all born with.

Hope’s professional background started with an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Concordia University in Montreal, QC with a focus on globalization and globalism. She has always been passionate about our global collective and ways to support ourselves and each other. She began her career in the fields of health promotion and clinical research with a focus on education, prevention and outreach. She’s worked with leading researchers at Veterans Affairs, Mount Sinai, and various leaders within CBO’s. Hope is passionate about health equity and demonstrates that in the focus areas of her work. She leads wellbeing in the workplace, teaches Yoga as a tool for self-inquiry and deprogramming from the status quo. Hope teaches Yoga for pre and postnatal bodies, people of the global majority and within various school settings as a way to serve students, teachers and staff. She excels at creating experiences and holding space for individuals to unplug, slow down, reset and come home to themselves.

Hope seeks to guide her clients and students in deepening their relationship with themselves in order to connect with others and the global collective more authentically. Hope feels most aligned with the truest version of herself while learning, practicing, exploring and integrating the 8 limbs of Yoga. How to navigate this spiritual path with the various salient identities she holds...in the year 2024, is a BIG part of that work. Trial and error, patience, gratitude and forgiveness are some of what guides her.

TESTIMONIALS

  • “Hope came the morning of my cousin’s wedding and did some relaxing yoga with a small group of us. She even gave us some breathing techniques to remember throughout the day. She was so professional and punctual and worked with us in a small Manhattan hotel room! She helped us to relax and bond and my cousin felt great afterward! Love Hope!”

  • Hope introduced me to all of the well known benefits of yoga by designing a bespoke programme for me that benefitted my ailments immensely, always in a safe way. She did so much more than that though as she took care of my mind, body and spirit as she educated, encouraged and supported me to achieve things physically I would have never thought possible.
